France makes for a pleasant spot to wind down for retirement for many reasons. Surprisingly, the cost of living here is not too expensive. Especially for those older in an age that need medical care, the cost of health expenses in France is a fraction of the prices that US pharmaceutical companies charge. Also, the style of life in locations such as Versailles is simple and laid back which makes for a relaxing destination. Food and leisure activities are among the best in the world in such old towns and located just under a half hour travel from the wonders of Paris.
